When my wife and I first found out that she had Mucinous Adenocarcinoma of the Appendix we were devastated. Then upon contacting the PMP Pals Network we learned about Dr. David Bartlett. We found we found the PMP Pals Network to be extremely informative for ANY and all information regarding Appendiceal Cancer including (pre and post) Ostomy help. We still are benefitting from information from the PMP Pals regarding post-operative the care after HIPEC. When my husband first got the diagnosis of Pseudomyxoma Peritonei (PMP), our first initial internet search led us to the PMP Pals website. Within hours we were on the phone with the founder and brain trust behind the Network, Gabriella.
She immediately helped us understand more about the disease and helped us identify several surgical specialists .Within days, we got in touch with three of those experts, and after meeting with them all we decided that my husband would receive treatment at UPMC.
The information on the PMP website, the personalized assistance from Gabriella, and the support we received from "Pal Mentors" was absolutely invaluable. One of our Mentors even visited us during our hospital stay! Eight years later, my husband is disease-free and I am now proud to serve as a Pal Mentor myself.
