Surgical Oncologists and Specialists in HIPEC Regional Perfusion Therapy Treatment
Where can I find a HIPEC treatment specialist?
Is there a HIPEC treatment center nearby?
How can I talk with other HIPEC treatment patients?
Is HIPEC treatment effective?
Are you a patient or a family caregiver seeking a HIPEC specialist and treatment center?
HIPEC, or Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy, provides specially trained surgeons with the ability to apply heated chemotherapy directly within and throughout the peritoneal cavity, for the purpose of killing any hidden tumor cells that may not have been removed during CRS (cytoreductive surgery.)
Regionally applied chemotherapy perfusion, or HIPEC, may increase the efficacy of cancer treatment, without causing significant toxicity to the remainder of the body.
Regional perfusion refers to the localized perfusion of chemotherapy, ie when heated chemotherapy is infused directly into the abdomen, or peritoneal cavity, as it is for appendix cancer "PMP" patients, as opposed to systemic chemo, which circulates throughout the body.
HIPEC has become a standard course of care for many appendiceal, colorectal and ovarian cancer cases, as well as for the treatment of Pseudomyxoma Peritonei and other Peritoneal Surface Malignancies (PSMs.)

“PMP Pals provided invaluable suggestions and information on treatment options, including HIPEC, for my husband's rare cancer diagnosis. The information provided is extensive and research based. The director of PMP Pals is knowledgeable and compassionate. Without the services of PMP Pals, my husband would not have survived his initial diagnosis and treatment, primarily because the local physicians did not know how to treat the disease." SR, USA, family of a patient of Dr David L Bartlett
“I'd like to thank you all for the useful information and support, for me as well as for my wife. By listening to you and by discussing the information you shared, the whole idea of HIPEC-surgery has lost a great deal of its frightening impact on me. I feel well prepared and am confident about HIPEC treatment." RB, Holland, pt of Dr Verwaal
"I couldn't have gotten through CRS and HIPEC without you!" AY, USA, pt of Dr Armando Sardi

_"Dr Bartlett and his team are the reason I am alive today. His surgical skills that have truly enriched my life since he began helping me with my disease in 2005. I knew from the start that he cared about me as a person -- not just another patient. He took the time to truly study my individual case and honestly assess my condition. He appreciated that my wife and I had read extensively about the disease and was very thoughtful and patient in responding to our many concerns and questions. He always responded to our questions factually and compassionately. We feel very fortunate to have been connected to Dr. Bartlett by Gabriella and the PMP Pals. I can't thank him enough for all he has done for me and my family." JM, USA, pt of Dr David L Bartlett

A message from a HIPEC patient...
“I had HIPEC last November performed by Dr. Lambert and her amazing team. This summer's CT scan reveals no evidence of cancer. I am thankful and relieved. Thank God for this procedure and the doctors that perform HIPEC! Pauline, HIPEC patient
Dr Laura Lambert explains HIPEC:
"There are now over 1,000 research and clinical articles about HIPEC. HIPEC is accepted as the standard of care for appendiceal cancer and peritoneal mesothelioma. Cytoreduction and intraperitoneal chemotherapy are the standard of care for ovarian cancer with 8 randomized clinical trials proving its efficacy. Unprecedented 5-year survival rates after HIPEC now exist for selected patients with carcinomatosis from colon cancer – survival that is not possible with chemotherapy alone.
HIPEC has also been shown to effectively palliate debilitating malignant ascites. With significantly improved criteria for patient selection and less than 5% mortality in high volume centers, HIPEC is no longer an extreme surgery with unproven benefit."
